This will be my last android application…of the month! I’ve already released 4 android applications this month alone and this marks the fifth one. Anyway, this is for those who have houses and want to check how much to pay monthly for their housing loan or even for those who are planning to buy a new house, you can use this great android app. Here’s the overview:

Housing Loan Calculator is a simple housing loan calculator that you can use to calculate your monthly housing loan repayments. Useful when you want to roughly calculate if you could afford a house that you see in an advertisement pamphlet, newspaper or even on the internet. Features:

– Simple and straightforward interface
– Allows you to input in the loan amount, interest rate (decimals allowed) and the installment period in years
– Screen is kept ON all the time while the calculator is visible
– Screen orientation is fixed to portrait
– Has an option to clear all the fields and start over again through android’s context menu and via a button press

Note: To be used only to calculate an estimated monthly payment amount, actual amount may differ slightly from the figures shown.

Wifi Toggler & Screen On Toggler Released!

August 28, 2010 Leave a comment

I’m on a roll here, this is my 4th and 5th android application release so far and I’m very happy to announce that these two are really useful. Well at least I do find them very useful to me and have yet to see one like them around. Lets start with Wifi Toggler:

Wifi Toggler Overview:

Wifi toggler is basically a replacement tool for the default search button on your android phone when you long press it. It allows you to quickly toggle your wifi from ON to OFF and vice versa.

Once installed, press and hold the search button on your android phone and a dialog will appear. Then select wifi toggler to toggle between your wifi states of ON and OFF. You may also set it as the default action when you long press your search button, but it is recommended NOT to set as the default action, so that you may use it in conjunction with other search button replacement tools such as Screen On Toggler (also by me).

You may clear the default setting for Wifi Toggler by going to the Manage Applications area, select Wifi toggler and scroll down and click on the “Clear Defaults” button. This should restore the selection dialog when you long press the search button.

To disable your wifi connection, you may either touch on the wifi toggler icon on your android’s notification bar OR you can long press your search button and select the wifi toggler again, to toggle it. It’s that simple.

Screen On Toggler Overview:

Screen on toggler is basically a replacement tool for the default search button on your android phone when you long press it. It allows you to quickly toggle your screen’s timeout from always ON to your screen timeout’s setting and vice versa.

Once installed, press and hold the search button on your android phone and a dialog will appear. Then select screen on toggler to toggle between always ON and your original screen timeout setting. You may also set it as the default action when you long press your search button, but it is recommended NOT to set as the default action, so that you may use it in conjunction with other search button replacement tools such as Wifi Toggler (also by me). You may clear the default setting for Screen On Toggler by going to the Manage Applications area, select screen on toggler and scroll down and click on the “Clear Defaults” button. This should restore the selection dialog when you long press the search button.

To restore the timeout setting to your original setting, you may either touch on the screen on toggler icon on your android’s notification bar OR you can long press your search button and select the screen on toggler again, to toggle it. It’s that simple.

You can grab them along with my other apps at SlideME Android Market:

Third Android Application – Go Dutch! Released!

August 27, 2010 Leave a comment

This marks the 3rd android application that i’ve developed and the first one that took me about a week to develop due to careful testing and planning on the user interface, background and also overall design elements on the application. Now what is go dutch! about? Here’s the lowdown:

Go Dutch! is an extremely useful android app that you would want to use when you’re outside with your friends having some drinks, food or perhaps just shopping in general.

Let say someone pays for the bill when you’re out for dinner with your friends, then you want to calculate how much to pay for your portion only, you can use Go Dutch! to do just that. It allows you to add up to 5 items maximum and also allows you to key in the amount of tax in percentage. Also, you can go dutch with everyone on the table and split the bill equally among X number of persons. Say your total bill is $150.95, you want to split it with 5 persons equally, you can use Go Dutch! to do that! Press the context menu button on your android phone for more options.

Besides that, you could also use this app to add up to 5 numbers like a calculator! Its up to your imagination how you want to use it! Grab it now and give it a try!

Features:
– Add up to 5 items and calculate with OR without tax
– Option to split bill equally among X number of persons
– Ability to reset and start over
– Option to share app with others through facebook, messaging, email, etc
– Screen is always kept on while this application is in view

Here are the screenshots:

Car Loan Calculator 1.0 Released

August 21, 2010 Leave a comment

I’ve just released a simple car loan calculator that i’ve been working over the past few days off and on. The reason why I created this calculator when there are others out there is because so far the ones i’ve seen doesn’t seem to match up and why I say this is because the one I’ve created has these features:

– Allows you to input in the car purchase price, down payment amount, interest rate (decimals allowed) and select the installment months
– Screen is kept ON all the time while the calculator is visible
– Screen orientation is fixed to portrait
– Has an option to clear all the fields and start over again through android’s context menu
– Better looking background (well at least from my personal point of view)

Here are some screenshots of this release:

FavSites 1.21 Released. Bug fix release.

August 15, 2010 Leave a comment

Hi All,

I’ve just released FavSites 1.21 which fixes a small bug in the volume scrolling when you scroll down a page till the end, then scroll up a few times (before reaching the very top) and then immediately scroll down, it ends up scrolling to the bottom most of the page instead of scrolling down a page from where it was left off. You can grab this release here:

It’s Friday The 13th! FavSites 1.2 is up!

August 13, 2010 1 comment

I know its strange for me to be releasing something on Friday the 13th but I just couldn’t help myself. Anyway, I know that I’ve promised zoom features and stuff but I’ve been hard at work on other stuff that I just had to release this new version up because I think this release is pretty solid on its own without those features too. Here’s are the list of new goodies:

    New Features

  • Keep Screen ON option. Don’t you hate it when your phone screen times out when you’re reading an interesting article or some really awesome comic? Well don’t get upset anymore! With the keep screen ON option, as long as FavSites is in view, your phone’s screen will never time out.
  • Display orientation – You can toggle between automatic sensor orientation, set it to fixed portrait OR landscape orientation all the time.
  • Volume Scrolling – I like this one the most. You can use your volume rocker buttons to scroll UP and DOWN one page at a time for easy browsing/reading pleasure. Don’t like that? Perhaps you prefer to scroll to the topmost or the bottom of the page instead? No problem, you can set it to that instead if you prefer. Awesome right?
  • Google Web Toolkit mobile page rending – If you’re like me, you’ll probably be browsing some sites that are not optimized for mobile which requires a lot of horizontal scrolling and such. Well don’t worry anymore, you can set for each tab to render them in GWT (Google Web Toolkit) mobilizer form and on top of that, you can set whether you want to display images or not JUST for GWT sites to boot. Now, how cool is that?
  • Manual tab loading – Now this one came from a suggestion by a user in legendroid.com, setting this option on any tab allows you to manually load the tab by touching on the link in the tab. Having this option turned on would load up your tabs a bit faster (instead of loading up all 5 sites up at one go for instance) and also possibly gives you more freedom instead of loading all the tabs.
  • Now this one isn’t a feature, but just a minor cleanup on the tab options page, since its so crowded there, I’ve decided to put each tab options in a separate section. Looks cleaner that way.
    Bug fixes

  • In previous versions of FavSites, when you rotate your phone, the sites would be forced to reload due to the orientation change. I have fixed this issue in this version of FavSites.

FavSites 1.1 Released!

August 1, 2010 Leave a comment

Just a week after launching my first Android Application FavSites, i’ve been working hard to implement some new features to the application and fix some bugs in the process. Here’s the changelog for FavSites 1.1:

    New Features

  • Clear Cache Preference now displays the approximate cache size in KiloBytes (KB)
  • Added Two New Page Rendering Preferences Option – JavaScript and Display Images Option (useful for those who want text-only display OR those with a mobile data plan and just want to catch the latest news without images)
  • Added support for Flash to be displayed in the browser (there is a known bug where if a flash element is within view of the tabs above, it will overlap the tabs. I’ve yet to be able to fix this, so for now, please move your tab view outside of the flash element to prevent the overlapping issue)
  • Page loading indication below each tab, indicated by a text and a loading percentage (ex: is loading…(10%))
  • Added forward, backward and refresh capabilities to the menu area
    Bug fixes

  • Fixed some minor display issue in the preferences area for HTC Hero users (cross fingers)
  • Fixed some page rendering issues due to JavaScript not being enabled in the first release of FavSites

This release took me a while as I was trying to figure out how to add the page loading display and in the end, the solution was a simple one that I overlooked. Anyway, I’m quite happy with this release. The next release should include a zoom feature with (or without) pinch to zoom capability and possibly caching to SD card (so that you don’t have to worry about your internal storage).

As before, here are some screenshots of this release:
